Reflect about the filming process. What challenges have you encountered in relation of teamwork and filming your characters in particular spaces? how have you resolved these?
In the filming process my team and I encountered a couple of issues, some we decided to change to improve the project, and some we just had to reshoot. One particular problem we encountered with the space on set was because we placed Fergus on the outside of his boat and we were sitting by his boat on the grass, because the boat is moving slightly Fergus keeps on floating out of our shot. We didnt get a chance to fix this properly but as I am the editor, I plan to use cutaways at moments Fergus is floating out of frame. Another problem we encountered with the space is that as the boat is a narrow boat our whole crew could not climb on board as Fergus seemed uncomfortable with letting us all onboard, so we only let Henry, our cinematographer get on the boat and shoot. The shots turned out really good however it was quite annoying as we couldn't discuss as a group what shots we thought was best, but Henry did a great job either way.
The walk to Fegus' narrow boat was around a 30-40 minute walk down the canal from Brentford, my group and I didnt realise it was as long until our first day shooting as we were slightly late to our shoot, however Fergus did not seem to mind, our second shooting day we made sure to improve this by meeting up earlier so we could get to the boat on time, possibly earlier. Lastly we had some trouble with the sound the first shoot day as we did not realise that there would be so much surround sound, until we actually started filming. We should have considered this earlier in the pre production stage as it wasted a full day of shooting. We tried to edit the background noise out but it seemed pretty hard to do. We used one of our group members video camera which was decent quality, however on our second day shooting we decided to book out equipment, which included the XF100 camera and a boom mic which made the audio a lot more sucessful and we could hear Fergus more clearly and the background sound was very minimal.
