Today I visited a Tate Modern Museum, I saw a lot of interesting pieces of art, sculptures, photos, short films and more. I visited the museum by myself, which was the first time, I felt that made me pay more attention to the atmosphere around me. One piece that stood out to me the most is one of the short films I viewed in this small dark room. They have put the film in a dark, enclosed room to create more of an effect and so the audience have no distractions. The film was about an earthquake in Tohoku, Japan, the film mainly focused on the aftermath. I like how the creator used long paced shots to really create the sad, depressing mood and to show the discomfort the people were going through in Japan. This inspires me to be a filmmaker because I was analysing the audience watching it and everyone was so glued to the screen, wondering what will happen next and all the shocking footage. To see the audience so engaged with the film which relates to really important issues really inspires me.
Another exhibit I came across was shockingly amazing, there was a very tall structure which was made out of radios. This was really interesting because every radio that was on the piece, were turned on and they all were on separate channels, so all I could hear is indistinct chatter from the radios. This stood out to me because the way the exhibit had been made looked like a lot of hard work and ideas went into it.
